Zac Carver

I am a Research Technician in the Moreno Lab. Since achieving a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Oklahoma, my passion for mycology initially inspired me to understand how microbe-host interactions guide evolution and shape the diversity of the participants and the relationship. Over the last eight years, I have gained experience investigating population dynamics, symbiosis, and genomics in the Doyle Mycology Lab at Louisiana State University, the lab of Dr. Nancy Moran, and the Genomic Sequencing and Analysis Facility Core at the University of Texas at Austin.

Outside of the lab environment, I usually find myself painting as a healthy escape–oil is my medium of choice. I also like exploring the woods and finding things I haven’t seen before. And a relaxing part of my daily routine is raising orchids, some for 17 years.
